M8953 Electronic Proximity Fuze

The M8953 is for use on OTO MELARA Standard, Compact and Super Rapid 76/62 Naval Gun Systems. The Fuze can employed on all HE, HEPFF and practice rounds.

The Fuze is designed for use in the proximity mode against sea skimming missiles as well as in an anti-aircraft role, where comparatively high miss distances enhance the 76mm gun capability significantly. It can also be used in the proximity mode against surface targets or for shore bombardment.

The fuze can be supplied with standard 27 second self-destruct, 44 second self-destruct, or no self-destruct.

The Fuze has two operational modes:

• Proximity function with Point Detonation Super Quick backup and Self Destruct mode (Standard mode).
• Point Detonation Super Quick only.

The Paralysed mode (Point Detonation only) is selectable prior to firing by means of a Fuze Paralyser. If not paralysed, the Fuze is always in the Proximity (Standard) mode.

PF76.2 Electronic Proximity Fuze

The PF76.2 is for use on AKM762 Naval Gun Systems. The Fuze can employed on all HE, HEPFF and practice rounds.

The Fuze is designed for use in the proximity mode against sea skimming missiles as well as in an anti-aircraft role, where comparatively high miss distances enhance the 76.2mm gun capability significantly. It can also be used in the proximity mode against surface targets or for shore bombardment.

The fuze can be supplied with standard 27 second self-destruct, or no self-destruct.

The Fuze has one operational mode:

• Proximity function with Point Detonation Super Quick backup and Self Destruct mode.
